Some of our services are provided for particular age groups, health conditions or disabilities, such as services to help frail older people and their carers continue managing independently in their homes; or services for young children (0-6 years).

Community Health Nursing One to one Community Health Nursing is available to people with chronic health conditions who need assessment and care to support them in managing their health issue and overall health.

Nutrition and Dietetics You need to work, live or study in the City of Whitehorse and we prioritise our services for people on low-medium incomes and holders of Health Care or Pension cards. Please contact us for futher details.
Occupational Therapy You need to work, live or study in the City of Whitehorse and we prioritise our services for people on low-medium incomes and holders of Health Care or Pension cards. Please contact us for futher details.

To join the following you must first be assessed by a physiotherapist:

  • Falls prevention program
Podiatry Podiatry is for people who have a medical condition (such as diabetes or peripheral vascular disease) that effects their feet and may result in complications.

Children's Services

Service Who can use this service

Occupational Therapy

Psychology

Services are available to children from birth to school entry (0-6 years) and their families, who work, live or study in the City of Whitehorse.  We prioritise our services for people on low-medium incomes and holders of Health Care or Pension cards.

In addition, children can use these services if they:

  • Attend preschool or child care services within the City of Whitehorse
  • Have difficulties that are not complex / global / long term in nature but who would benefit from specific service (speech, OT or psych).

To join any of the groups offered for children as part of their care, all children must first be assessed by one of the health professionals within the Children’s team.

Children’s Dental service

Dental Services are available to children who meet the following requirements regardless of where they live.

Dental services are available and free of charge to all children and young people under 18 years of age who have a:

  • Health care card; or
  • Pension card.

For those without the above concession cards, Dental services are available for all children from 18 months to 13 years of age with a one-off cost applied for a complete course of care.

Counselling Services

Service Who can use this service
Counselling Counselling services are available to people who work, live or study in the City of Whitehorse and we prioritise our services for people on low-medium incomes and holders of Health Care or Pension cards.
Counselling – Family Violence Specific family violence counselling services are available to women if you:

  • Are currently experiencing family violence, or feel unsafe in the family home
  • Feel that your past experience of abuse continues to affect your life
  • Are experiencing abuse from former partners.

You need to work, live or study in the City of Whitehorse and we prioritise our services for people on low-medium incomes and holders of Health Care or Pension cards.

Dental (Oral Health) Services

Service Who can use this service
Dental Services for Adults

Dental Services are available to people who meet the following requirements regardless of where they live.

Dental services are available for adults if you have a:

  • Health care card; or
  • Pension card.
Dental Services for Children

Dental services are available and free of charge to all children and young people under 18 years of age who have a:

  • Health care card; or
  • Pension card.

For those without the above concession cards, Dental services are available for all children from 18 months to 13 years of age with a one-off cost applied for a complete course of care.

If you are in the one of the above groups Priority access to our Dental (Oral Health) Service is available if you:

  • Are pregnant
  • Are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Are aged over 80 years
  • Are a newly arrived refugee or asylum seeker
  • Are homeless
  • Have a mental health condition

Diabetes Services

Service Who can use this service
Diabetes Education Group Our diabetes education group is for people who have diabetes, their family and friends who work, live or study in the City of Whitehorse and we prioritise this service for people on low-medium incomes and holders of Health Care or Pension cards.
Diabetes Nurse Educator One-to-one diabetes nurse education is available to people with diabetes who need assessment and care to support them in managing their diabetes and overall health.

IDEAS – Integrated Diabetes Education and Assessment Service A ‘one stop shop’ to with a team to help you with your diabetes is available if you need specialist medical services to help you manage your diabetes and prevent complications.  You must be referred by your doctor for this service.  People on low-medium incomes and holders of Health Care or Pension cards are prioritised.

Men's Shed

Service Who can use this service
Men’s Shed Program The Men’s Shed is for men over the age of 55 and on a Health or Disability pension who live in the City of Whitehorse.  We prioritise this service for men who are:

  • Restricted in access to social activities
  • Recovering from hospitalisation
  • Have a disability
  • Primary carers for partners for family members
