Medication Support & Recovery Service

The Medication Support & Recovery Service (MSRS) is an addiction treatment service for people who have problems with prescription and over-the-counter medications. The MSRS team at Carrington Health includes a specialist counsellor, nurse and peer support worker.

We offer a range of treatment services including:

  • Therapeutic counselling for adults, young people and families
  • Nursing and withdrawal support (including tapering and reduction plans)
  • Peer support and group programs
  • Support to access pharmacotherapy treatment (including opioid replacement therapy)
  • Referrals to allied health services (such as physiotherapy, pain services and sleep clinics)
  • GP and pharmacy support
  • Education and training programs for healthcare services and community organisations.

How do I make an appointment?

How much will it cost?

This service is free and confidential.

Do I need a Dr’s referral?

You do not require a referral from your Dr to access this service at Carrington Health.

We welcome people who are also using alcohol or other drugs, and people who have other mental health concerns (such as anxiety, depression or trauma).

You can self-refer for this service, however we do accept referrals from GPs, AOD workers, mental health, allied health and other professionals.

Do you offer support for family members?

Family members can also self-refer to the MSRS for support and counselling, even if the person using medications is not engaged in treatment.

Is there an after-hours service?

Currently, Carrington Health do not offer an after hours service. However Inspiro Community Health and Access Health and Community are able to provide support after hours.
