My name is Jesslyn Lengkong and I’ve been working as an Oral Health Therapist coming up to 5 years. I have been involved with Little Smiles since 2016 and seeing children grow in their confidence has been a highlight. From brushing their teeth more regularly at home and sitting comfortably in the dental clinic, my favorite part of Little Smiles is to see children create healthy habits for life.
I think when its comes to health, prevention is key. For healthy mouths this starts with children at a young age by providing the resources and information to families, education centers and the community. My main goal is to ensure all children and their families are aware of the services available to them in their community so that they know their dental needs can be met.
Through outreach services such as Little Smiles, we hope to reach all the children and their families around the Whitehorse area and surrounds. We have to remember if we start them young, they have the knowledge to look after their teeth for life, because a little smile can go a long way!
The Little Smiles program educations children about oral health and healthy eating habits through fun and interactive stories and activities. This is followed by free dental screenings with a qualified Oral Health Therapist, to screen for any signs of dental disease including decay. Participating children will receive an examination report and a fun pack with information and kids activities to take home.
If your early education center, primary school or kindergarten would like to be involved please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
