Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the NDIS?
The NDIS gives people with disabilities greater choice and independence over the supports they receive.
The NDIS covers a wide range of services, supports and equipment that enables people to achieve their goals, increase independence, develop skills for everyday life and participate in the community.
Am I eligible for the NDIS?
To be eligible for the NDIS, you will need to meet the age, residency and disability or early intervention access requirements and you must live in an area where the NDIS is available.
The NDIS will provide Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and significant disability with the reasonable and necessary supports they need to enjoy life. The NDIS will help people with disability to achieve their goals. This may include greater independence, community involvement and improved wellbeing.
What if I’m over the age of 65 years?
People over the age of 65 are not eligible for the NDIS. Disability support will continue to be provided with the same supports and funding they received prior to the transition to the NDIS.
