The Latest with Little Smiles

We Launch In Primary Schools

Little Smiles is our visiting dental program, which originally began as a service for Childcare Centers and Kindergartens.

Last year, Carrington Health launched Little Smiles for Foundation Children (Grade Prep) in Primary Schools. Little Smiles were able to see over 250 children from 7 local primary schools. We received some great feedback from parents, teachers and students who particularly loved the ‘dress ups’ at the end of the program.

This year we are expanding again, to visit Children in Grade’s 1 and 2 with a focus on talking about the impact that sugar can have on teeth. Our program also provides parents with a Little Smiles info booklet, with tips on encouraging healthy snacks, regular brushing and maintaining a healthy mouth for life!

A Visit to the Petit Early Learning Centre, Forest Hill

‘Our Petit Early Learning Centre in Forrest Hill had the Carrington Health Little Smiles team out to talk to the children in our Kindergarten studios about healthy eating and keeping their teeth clean.

The group was read a book about Sophie visiting the dentist, children got to dress up as a dentist and patient, practiced to clean the big teeth and then had the opportunity to choose which were the everyday or sometimes foods. Children across the centre then had dentist Emily count and check their teeth. Well done everyone for opening you your mouth nice and wide!’

A Special Thank You

Last year the Nunawading Lions Club with support from Patterson Cheney Holden, sponsored a new vehicle for Little Smiles. We’d like to extend our thanks as because of their generosity, the program has been able to extend to Primary Schools. Due to this incredible donation, more and more children and families in the Whitehorse Community are able to access free Oral Health info and check up’s.
